On 11 November 2020, the Serbian issuer of GOs, EMS (Elektromreža Srbije) was connected with the AIB Hub, enabling trade of GOs with fellow AIB member nations.
To date, only Serbian electricity suppliers have purchased these Guarantees of Origin. The connection essentially opens the Serbian market to the EU which is likely to increase competition for these GOs.
In Europe, the EECS GO market continues to grow at a rate of approximately 10% per year (measured by cancellations, which represent demand), although a slight slowdown was noted during the recent AIB Q3 2020 published statistics.
