The Institut Luxembourgeois de Regulation (ILR) held an auction for 2020 Q3 production from 27 to 30 October 2020.
A summary of the prices and bid ranges is given in the graph below:
Wind volumes were down compared to the last quarter (49 GWh to 57 GWh for Q2 quarter), as was the average price, which fell to 21 Eurocent/MWh (from 28 Eurocent/MWh for last quarter). This price is similar to current over the counter (OTC) prices.
Biomass sold for slightly higher at 44 Eurocent/MWh, 2 Eurocent more than the previous month. Biomass GOs sold picked up slightly from last quarter (65 compared to 63 GWh). The 44 Eurocent is significantly higher than the OTC price, which typically sells close to Nordic Hydro price (currently around 11 Eurocent).
Solar GOs were on offer for the first time in these ILR auctions; the auction covered Solar production year to date (Q1-Q3). The average price was 61 Eurocent/MWh. The associated volume was just under 7 GWh. This represents a 45 Eurocent premium over current EU Solar GOs.
All volumes on offer were sold. The full details and results of the auction can be found on the Grexel website. On the ILR website, plant information can be found including commissioning date, which can determine eligibility for support schemes (e.g. UK FiT and CfD), thus price.
