Powernext held the tenth auction of Guarantees of Origin (GO), with the book opening on 15 July and order matching on 22 July, for April 2020 production GOs.
A total of 1 689 GWh of supported RES-E GOs were auctioned, which is similar to the amount of GOs for the production period 12 months prior (April 2019 - 1 714 GWh) and is a decrease from the auction volume of last month. Most of the drop in volume can be attributed to Wind volumes, which have dropped by more than 50% from 1 944 to 981 GWh.
Of the GOs on offer, 1 329 GWh were sold representing an increase from last month of about 30%. Notably, all Wind GO volumes auctioned were sold - this may be due to expected scarcity heading into the historically still summer months with lower wind availability.
The Wind, Hydro, and Thermal GO prices have dropped compared to last month, coinciding with increasing proportions of these GOs sold. Solar GOs, which have traditionally seen 100% uptake, experienced a price increase (19.6 to 20.9 Eurocent).
