The GSE recently announced the outcome of the auction session on 22 June 2020 for the assignment of the Guarantees of Origin (GOs). The GOs auctioned by the GSE are related to production from January to April 2020.
Technology | Sold (MWh) | Min price (EC/MWh) | Max price (EC/MWh) | VWA price (EC/MWh) |
Hydro | 1 201 535 | 16 | 29 | 24 |
Solar | 2 634 905 | 17 | 64 | 57 |
Wind | 304 306 | 14 | 54 | 27 |
Other | 2 767 715 | 22 | 54 | 43 |
Auction data and trends from 2019 are shown below.
Prices continue to decrease compared to the March auction, although Biomass GOs saw a return to action, with more Biomass GOs sold than GOs of any other technology.
Most Italian GO prices remain above the OTC prices, with Italian Wind GOs close to parity.
A total of 6.9 TWh GOs were sold, 100% of the auctioned volume. This represents a substantial increase over the sold volume of the last auction (<1 TWh for March 2020 auction). The large increase also coincides with the first time 2020 Production GOs have been offered.
It should be noted however the volume sold is a decrease from a year ago (June 2019 auction - 7.9 TWh), which may be a reflection of the decrease in electricity demand early this year due to COVID-19.
