Powernext held the ninth auction of Guarantees of Origin (GO), with the book opening on 11 June and order matching on 18 June, for March 2020 production GOs.
A total of 2 693 GWh of supported RES-E GOs were auctioned, which is similar to the amount of GOs for the production period 12 months prior (March 2019), and is a decrease from the previous high volume auction of last month.
Of the GOs on offer, 1 051 GWh were sold which is a significant decrease from previous month. This weaker result may be reflective of reduced activity due to COVID-19, with the associated drop in demand for electricity and GOs finally catching up with the auctions. However, Solar GOs continue to be sought after, with all volumes auctioned being sold.
The prices for the different technologies diverged from last month's narrow range, but still lie within a 19-25 Eurocent range. Thermal GOs saw the highest auction prices of the four technologies, but saw little action with less than 1% of auctioned volume sold.
