Accounting for the consumers rising demand for renewable energy

European consumers are choosing renewable electricity over other energy sources on a large-scale accounting for 20% of all electricity consumed. However, the demand for renewable energy is not currently recognised in any European statistics.  Jared Braslawsky, secretary-general of Renewable Energy Certificate System (RECS) International, suggests that the mandatory reporting of national consumption figures would ensure consumers to play a larger role in the energy transition.
