Stable prices seen at French Auctions

Friday, 20 August 2021

Powernext held the twenty-third auction of Guarantees of Origin (GO), with the book opening on 11 August and order matching on 18 August, for May 2021 production GOs.

A total of 4 215 GWh of supported RES-E GOs were auctioned, which is significantly higher than the amount of GOs offered last month 3 320 GWh. All of the offered volumes were sold. Wind GOs represented about 62% of the total sold volume.

The Wind price decreased from 44 to 42 Eurocent/MWh. The Hydro and Solar price were auctioned at 45 Eurocent/MW and 46 Eurocent/MWh respectively, broadly similar to the prices witnessed in last month auctions. Thermal generation GOs prices increased from 36 Eurocent/MWh to 37 Eurocent/MWh. The stable prices in French auction results have followed the stable OTC GO market prices witnessed since last month's French auction. However, the OTC prices trade at a slight premium at this moment.

It is also important to note that auction results are now updated at EEX.com, while French auctions page at Powernext had not been updated at the time of writing this article.
